By the Sword of the Samurai

Painting Process
The 18 x 36 clayboard was painted with mossy green and muted yellow acrylics, aged to create cracks and crevasses, and then slightly detailed with light touches of red enamel for contrast. A similar palette was used to create the gouache underpainting and then a custom-mixed dark green enamel was used for all of the detail work.

The frame was custom made by Lozeau to mimic the design of a Japanese temple and also reference certain elements of the armor with cord woven into the wood to match the patterns in the painting.

Paper Prints
The 12 x 18 By the Sword of the Samurai prints are produced with archival ink on glossy paper and are perfect for those of you who prefer to frame your art.

Canvas Prints
The ready-to-hang By the Sword of the Samurai canvas prints are produced with archival ink on museum-grade, gallery-wrapped canvas and extend 1.25 inches off the wall, so there's no need for a frame. There are several sizes available and each limited-edition giclee is signed and numbered out of only 40 Artist Proofs. Please allow up to three weeks for delivery of canvas prints, as they are custom-built at the time the order is placed.
