Rise of the Geisha

Painting Process
The 24 x 36 canvas was painted with various shades of purple acrylics over light touches of pink to create a soft, yet robust atmosphere for the skeleton geisha, who is strong and confident, but still feminine.

Two cherry blossom branches were painted at her sides to symbolize the transient nature of life, with just a few stray flowers resting on the ground after what must have been a fierce battle.

Light shades of green gouache were used to create her form and the darker pink gouache from her kimono was used to tip the blossoms. All of the line work was painted with custom-mixed purple enamel and the sword blade was tinted with subtle touches of red.

Paper Prints
The 8 x 10 and 12 x 18 Rise of the Geisha prints are produced with archival ink on glossy paper and are perfect for those of you who prefer to frame your art.

Canvas Prints
The ready-to-hang Rise of the Geisha canvas prints are produced with archival ink on museum-grade, gallery-wrapped canvas and extend 1.25 inches off the wall, so there's no need for a frame. There are several sizes available and each limited-edition giclee is signed and numbered out of only 40 Artist Proofs. Please allow up to three weeks for delivery of canvas prints, as they are custom-built at the time the order is placed.
